Supermoon Equinox - 500 days to go

Sometimes the universe reminds everyone that we are very small and here fleetingly. The moon that gazes over England tonight is luminously large, the closest it has been to earth for eighteen years. The moon leads the ebb and flow of tides although NASA has dismissed theories that this supermoon has anything to do with the catastrophic tsunami and earthquake recently devastating North Japan.

When in South Korea last year I was curious to learn that there is still a strong awareness of the lunar calendar as well as the solar calendar. This split of consciousness, offering two ways to tell seasonal time, seems also to represent a generational split - the older generation focused on a local agricultural past while the younger generation focussed on a Western future.

The moon represents many themes buried in the Biding Time story and this supermoon marks an important moment on this journey.
